Pepsi Bethel was a prolific jazz dancer, excelling in both solo styles and partnered styles like lindy hop. His exuberant and athletic style made him stand out, even among the top jazz dancers of the era. Pepsi was regularly involved in professional dance programs in New York, as well as growing his own community in his hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina. Over the course of his life, he choreographed and performed in routines on many stages, including Broadway, toured across Africa, taught at dance colleges, and formed his own dance company, the “American Authentic Jazz Dance Company.”
