Mable Lee was a child prodigy who started performing at the age of 4. Her career rapidly accelerated to performing in clubs at 9 years old and eventually traveling throughout the United States and Europe.
She appeared on Broadway, at the Apollo Theater, and in more than 100 soundies. Soundies were three minute musical films that featured a song, dance, and/or band orchestral number. Because of these soundies, Mable Lee is one of the more commonly available references for early jazz dancing. Lots of her clips can be found on YouTube - check her out!
