Cab has been credited as the original showman. As an incredible musician, dancer, and performer, he revolutionized the idea of what a bandleader could be. He popularized many movements that are still used today, like the moonwalk and the knee drop. His unique movement inspired many films in his time, including cartoons like Betty Boop. This painting is based on his performance in the Betty Boop short, St. James Infirmary.
